Gastroesophageal reflux disease is the leading risk factor for esophageal adenocarcinoma (EAC), a malignancy that exhibits marked resistance to chemotherapy and results in poor clinical outcomes. This study aims to define and overcome the mechanisms underlying chemoresistance in EAC to enable the development of novel therapeutic strategies.

Metaplasia is the first stage in cell transformation that can lead to malignancy. Acinar metaplastic cells form premalignant lesions that have the potential to become invasive and develop into a deadly pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma. We and others previously showed that acinar metaplastic cells are heterogeneous and include 7 distinct subtypes. The distribution of metaplastic cell types across lesions, their interactions with one another, and their crosstalk with stromal and immune cells remain largely unknown.

Intrapancreatic fat deposition (IPFD) is associated with pancreatic diseases, such as pancreatitis, type 2 diabetes mellitus, and pancreatic cancer, and so on. Although non-invasive imaging has been used to quantify IPFD in clinical settings, this approach does not fully reflect the incidence and prevalence of IPFD, especially its occurrence in a cohort of elderly individuals, which is difficult to determine from routine medical visits. This study aims to systematically evaluate IPFD in elderly individuals, classify its subtypes, and assess their relationship with other pancreatic lesions.

This review aims to examine the impact of hospital and surgeon volume on patient-relevant outcomes in liver resections and synthesize the available evidence.

Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) is a highly prevalent, chronic disorder of the Gut-brain interaction associated with a high healthcare utilization burden. The treatment of IBS remains challenging due to numerous treatment options and heterogeneity in IBS symptoms. Therefore, for effective decision-making, insight into management strategies and treatment preferences of both patients and physicians is important. In our previous study, the most-preferred treatment among IBS patients was dietary intervention, subsequently pharmacotherapy and psychotherapy. However, the preferences of physicians remain unclear.

Glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) receptor agonists have metabolic and hepatic benefits in metabolic dysfunction–associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD), but their additive benefit compared to lifestyle modification only in real-world settings remains uncertain. This study compared the effects of GLP-1 agonist therapy and physical activity on body mass index (BMI) and noninvasive liver metrics in a predominantly Hispanic clinical population with MASLD.
