Chronic Proton Pump Inhibitor (PPI) use after anti-reflux surgery (ARS) remains common. Which patient factors contribute to chronic PPI use after surgery is unclear. The primary aim was to provide a long-term outcome of ARS by evaluating PPI use in the years after surgery and identify determinants of chronic PPI use after surgery.

The unique location and complex anatomical structure of the duodenum poses challenges for the application of endoscopic biopsy. Differentiating benign and malignant duodenal stenosis remains difficult for clinicians. Therefore, there is an urgent need for a new, reliable, and cost-effective biomarker to differentiate between benign and malignant duodenal stenosis.

Chronic viral hepatitis B constitutes a public health problem due to its morbidity, mortality and economic consequences. To date, the direct costs incurred by patients for the treatment of this condition are not well documented. ICD-10 codes are commonly used to identify gastrointestinal bleeding (GIB) events in observational studies. However, most studies have neither used validated ICD-10 coding algorithms to identify GIB events nor manually confirmed the diagnosis of GIB, which raises concerns regarding the validity of their results. The aim of the study was to estimate the accuracy of ICD-10 codes for GIB in patients receiving oral anticoagulation and to develop new coding algorithm for identifying GIB events.

Metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease(MASLD) and diabetes are manifestations of metabolic syndrome. Urinary iodine concentration (UIC) is closely related to diabetes and glucose metabolism, but studies on the relationship between UIC and MASLD in non-diabetic individuals are limited. Our purpose was to explore the associations between UIC and MASLD as well as liver fibrosis in the non-diabetic population.

Colorectal cancer (CRC) is the second leading cause of cancer-related mortality worldwide. Emerging evidence highlights the gut microbiota, particularly Akkermansia muciniphila, as a key modulator in CRC pathogenesis. While often regarded as a beneficial commensal, its role in CRC appears complex and potentially dualistic.
