来源: BMC Gastroenterol. 2025年26卷1期45页
Gastric cancer (GC) remains a leading cause of cancer-related mortality worldwide with limited therapeutic options. Identifying molecular drivers of GC progression is crucial for developing effective strategies. Transcription Factor 19 (TCF19), a hub gene implicated in various cancers, has not been well reported in GC. Understanding the role of TCF19 in GC could provide novel insights into tumorigenesis and identify potential therapeutic targets.

The risk of hypoxemia is increased in elderly patients who are sedated during gastroscopy. This can be attributed to the physiological changes associated with aging, such as reduced oxygen reserves and an increased sensitivity to sedatives. This study aimed to evaluate whether an anesthetic nasal mask is more effective than a traditional nasal cannula at preventing hypoxemia during gastroscopy in elderly patients.
484. Combined water exchange and cap-assisted colonoscopy reduces cecal intubation time and patient discomfort in patients with unsedated colonoscopy: a randomized controlled trial.
Colonoscopic insertion remains technically challenging. While cap-assisted colonoscopy (CAC) reduces the cecal intubation time (CIT), sigmoid colon water exchange (SWE) enhances linear scope advancement. We hypothesized that combined water exchange and cap-assisted colonoscopy (SWC) would optimize the CIT and improve patient tolerance during unsedated colonoscopy.

Appendicoliths are one of the important causes of acute appendicitis. Currently, there is no consensus on the relationship between appendicoliths and complicated appendicitis, and opinions on the treatment of appendicolith-associated appendicitis vary. This study aims to determine the significance of appendicolith in acute complicated appendicitis and to assess the characteristics of appendicoliths and Computed tomography (CT) features associated with complicated appendicitis.

The coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic profoundly altered healthcare systems and patient behavior worldwide, resulting in a significant decrease in hospital visits and delays in diagnosis and treatment. Thus, we aimed to investigate behavioral changes in patients undergoing colorectal cancer surgery during the pandemic, identify vulnerable populations, and determine the impact of such changes on cancer progression.

Alpha-1 antitrypsin deficiency-associated liver disease (AATD-LD) remains underrecognized despite its significant contribution to morbidity and mortality in adults with the PiZZ genotype. Lack of standardized definitions, diagnostic criteria, and staging impedes timely diagnosis and therapeutic development. To address these gaps, a multi-disciplinary expert panel convened under the auspices of the American Gastroenterological Association in collaboration with the American Association for the Study of Liver Diseases, European Association for the Study of the Liver, and Alpha-1 Foundation to develop consensus recommendations for nomenclature, diagnosis, staging, and clinical trial endpoints in AATD-LD.

Hemorrhoid disease is a widespread gastrointestinal ailment caused by the degeneration of supporting tissues within the anal cushions. Despite its high incidence, the pathogenic processes involved remain poorly elucidated.
489. Aortoenteric fistula: clinical features, diagnostic challenges, and surgical outcomes - a retrospective analysis of 10 cases.

Aortoenteric fistula (AEF) is a rare but life-threatening cause of gastrointestinal hemorrhage, often presenting diagnostic challenges and associated with high mortality. Secondary AEF (SAEF), typically related to previous aortic grafting, accounts for most cases. Optimal surgical management and perioperative strategies remain under debate. This study analyzed the clinical characteristics, diagnostic modalities, surgical techniques, and outcomes of patients with AEF to provide insights for guiding future treatment approaches.
490. Association of platelet-lymphocyte ratio with acute pancreatitis severity: systematic review and meta-analysis.

Acute pancreatitis (AP) is an inflammatory disease with a heterogeneous clinical course, ranging from mild symptoms to life-threatening complications. The platelet-to-lymphocyte ratio (PLR), an easily accessible inflammatory biomarker, has shown prognostic value in other conditions but has been understudied in AP. This review aimed to systematically evaluate the association between PLR and AP severity.

As a major etiological factor of the gastrointestinal diseases, the presence of Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) poses a serious concern to the clinical management; however, the confirmation of the eradication post-therapy is of utmost crucial. The purpose of this study was to use the 13C Urea Breath Test (UBT) in measuring the effectiveness of second-line quadruple therapy in assessing treatment failure due to the infection with resistant strains of H. pylori, particularly in the state of Odisha.

497. The causal relationship between body mass index and perianal abscess: a Mendelian randomization study.
Observational studies suggest an association between elevated body mass index (BMI) and perianal abscess risk, but residual confounding and reverse causality limit causal inference. Mendelian randomization (MR) offers a robust approach to assess causality by leveraging genetic variants as instrumental variables. This study aimed to evaluate the causal relationship between BMI and perianal abscess using a MR framework.
