Thymus cells from syngeneic donors treated in vitro with antilymphocyte globulin release into the medium a soluble hemopoietic stem cell inhibitory factor (SCIF). It has been found that SCIF inhibits the immune response to sheep red blood cells in the adoptive immunity system. Primarily affected by SCIF are the mature progenitors of B cells whose ability cooperate with T lymphocytes seems to be impaired. The role of lymphokines in the induction of the immune response is discussed.
2206. [Effect of 5'-deoxy-5'-S-isobutyladenosine on hematopoietic stem cells].
Unlike known cytostatics, 5'-deoxy-5'-S-isobutyladenosine (SIBA) does not inhibit proliferative activity of hemopoietic stem cells of intact bone marrow. On the contrary, it raises CFUs number of 15-28% in vitro and in vivo. SIBA inhibits by 40% the 3',5'-cAMP-induced increase in CFUs proliferation.

By means of a modified Howell semisolid medium it has been established that the relative content of committed stem cells of the myeloid clone in liver and spleen tissues of human fetus, aged between 18 and 24 weeks, is higher by five times than that in the bone marrow of adults. The methods worked out for making preparations of agar cultures and for their morphocytochemical staining may be used for the identification of grown cell elements; they are simple and reproducible.
2208. [Effect of serum against hematopoietic stem cells (RAMBS) on self-maintaining cells of Rauscher erythroleukemia].
The spleen colony assay was used to study the effect of rabbit antimouse brain serum (RAMBS) on erythroleukemic colony-forming cells (ECFC). RAMBS was shown to specifically inactivate hemopoietic stem cells (CFU-S) and to have no influence on ECFC growth. Absorption of RAMBS by erythroleukemic cells did not inhibit its anti-CFU-S activity. It is suggested that CFU-S and ECFC differ in the antigenic spectrum.
2209. [Colony-forming activity of stromal precursors of bone marrow mechanocytes in leukemia and hematopoietic hypoplasia].
The colony-forming precursors of stromal mechanocytes do not remain intact in blood diseases affecting hemopoietic stem cells (acute leukemia and hemopoiesis hypoplasia). These cells are deranged to the greatest degree in hemopoiesis hypoplasia. The drug-induced hempoiesis hypoplasia (cytostatic therapy) is characterized by a greater inhibition of the stromal precursors of mechanocytes with the same degree of myeloid hemopoiesis inhibition as in an idiopathic one.

The sensitivity of T-differentiated lymphocytes to the action of radiation and cytostatics].
Bone marrow stem cells of the parent genotype (CBA) produce mainly erythroid colonies in the spleen of lethally irradiated recipients (CBA-C57Bl)F1. T d-lymphocytes change this differentiation pattern from the mainly erythroid to the mainly myeloid pathway. The irradiation with 100 R does not abolish this effect. The lymphocytes irradiated in vitro with 200 R or more, and incubated with Mitomycin C or Cycloheximide lost the ability to change the differentiation pattern of the transplanted cells. T d-lymphocytes are radiosensitive cells that need DNA and protein synthesis for realizing their function.
2214. [Participation of cyclic nucleotides in immunogenesis and immune reactions of lymphocytes].
The paper deals with generalized literary and author's own data testifying to the role of cyclic nucleotides as mediators in the effect of specific and nonspecific factors on immunogenesis, from the proliferation of stem hemopoietic cell of bone marrow to the reaction of T and B lymphocytes to antigens. It is shown that changes in the system of lymphocytes cyclic nucleotides are most probably secondary in response to changes in intracellular concentration and distribution of calcium ions. Certain evidence is presented on immunopharmacological preparations based on cyclic nucleotides, their analogs and preparations modulating the activity of phosphodiesterases.

A historical survey on so called "theory of totipotent interstitial cells (i-cells)" and analysis of modern notion concerning the system of stem i-cells (SSC) in hydra and some other Coelenterata, as well as its peculiar regularity, normal and at various restorative morphogeneses are presented. Morphogenesis and space organization of polyps do not depend on the SSC, just the reverse, the SSC characteristics -- probability of selfrenovation, the TC proportion differentiating in one or other direction -- are determined by the morphogenetic process. In hydra and hydroids a possibility of reversed differentiation of the TC, with a successive change of the differentiation program is demonstrated under certain experimental conditions.
