The distribution of transplantation HL-A antigens in 124 patients (cancer of the stomach, mammary glands, the large intestine, the lung, skeletal sarcoma) was studied in microlymphocyte toxic reaction. A comparison with the results of the analogous examination of healthy persons dwelling in Leningrad indicated certain differences in the frequency of encountering some antigens, and the absence of HLA-B18 antigen among patients. Most frequently (in 62%) an "incomplete set" of antigens was found in a group of patients, antigens typical for the whole locus (more frequently "B") being absent in 7.3%. In 6.4% "extra" (live or more) HL-A antigens were noted. The use of adaptive immunotherapy would significantly change antigenic spectrum of lymphocytes in patients.
2204. [Esophageal cancer morbidity according to patient genealogies (based on data from Guryev Province)].
The author has studied familial predisposition to esophageal tumors, taking into account the high incidence of esophageal cancer among the population of Gur'ev Province. Totally, 200 patients with esophageal cancer (probands) were questioned. The destiny of 2432 relatives in the four generations genealogy was followd up.
2205. [Several genetic and evolutionary aspects of the problem of environmental pollution with mutagens].2206. [Chromosome aberrations induced by fortrin in human lymphocytes in cultures and in vivo].
Chromosome aberrations in human lymphocytes in vitro and in vivo were studied after the treatment with the five-functional alkylating agent photrine (an original Soviet antitumour drug). In concentrations above 10-7 M photrine caused chromosome breaks in vitro at 4.6.10-4 M completely diminished the mitotic activity in cultured cells. The aberrations were presented almost exclusively as single and paired fragments occasionally distributed among the chromosomes. In three patients treated with photrine cells with aberrative karyotypes ranged within 14-37.5%.
2207. [Cytogenetic characteristics of lung tumors induced by exposing BALB/C mice to transplacental N-nitrosoethylurea].
Chromosome pattern of lung adenocarcinomas in BALB/c mice exposed to N-nitrosoethylurea during prenatal life (transplacental action) was studied; it appeared that 121 of 145 metaphases examined contained 40 chromosomes. Along with this, there were revealed individual hypo-, hyperdiploid and tetraploid cells. Chromosomes possessed the usual telecentric structure in all the cells. The problem of possible changes of kariotypes of the tumours under study indetectable by the routine staining techniques is discussed.
2209. [Histogenesis of sarcomas, induced by plastic films, in murine radiation chimeras].
Sarcomas were induced in radiation chimeras CBA/CBAT6T6 by subcutaneous implantation of plastic films 13 months after the irradiation and donor bone marrow transplantation. Of the 12 tumours examined, 11 possessed host kariotype and one--donor karyotype. Development of connective tissue cells from the bone marrow precursors presumably played no significant role in the histogenesis of plastic sarcomas.

A rather distinct correlation in the content and distribution of DNA with the grade of malignancy was estabilished for the following series: normal astrocytes, and oligodendrocytes, typical astrocyfomas and oligodendrogliomas atypical astrocytomas and oligodendrogliomas. For glioblastomas this correlation is impaired, because the polymorphic variant of glioblastoma is characterized by particularly great disturbances in the content and distribution of DNA in the form of polyploidy and aneuploidy which, in this case, reflects not only the grade of malignancy, but also a pronounced polymorphism of tumour cells. The content of DNA in rapidly growing malignant tumours is not only an expressions of real deviation to the side of polyploidy and the mitotic cycle. In neuroectodermal tumours growing in the condition of cell culture, the similar regularity was observed, although the phenomena of aneuploidy were more distinctly expressed in the majority of tumours.
2213. [Cytogenetic characteristics of the growth of Brown-Pearce carcinoma in rabbits].
The Brown-Pears carcinoma in rabbits is characterized by a high proliferation activity of cells (to 1%), high chromosome variability (to 34%) and a high index of genome variability (to 60%). The data obtained may serve as a theoretical basis when studying the growth of malignant tumours.

Based on clinico-genealogical studies of 219 cancer patients, whose relatives suffered neoplastic processes, it was concluded that a hereditory factor plays a definite role in cancer morbidity. It seems to be rational to single out the relatives of the proband as a high-risk group in malignant tumor morbidity and to keep them under a dispensary control.

Study on the genealogy of 671 patients with hemoblastosis has evidenced a more frequent incidence of malignant neoplasms in the families of patients with chronic lympholeucosis, erythremia and lymphogranulomatosis compared with the families of practically healthy persons. Whereas this regularity is not revealed in the families of patients with acute forms of leucosis and chronic myeloleucosis.

A study of the late DNA replication pattern in chromosomes of human acute leucaemia cells revealed a significant diffrence from control. Chromosomes, 2,3 and 4-5 of the acute leucaemia cells finish their DNA replication earlier, and chromosomes 1, 13-15 and 16 later, compared to the control chromosomes. The difference in the pattern of DNA replication between analogous chromosomes of acute leucaemia and donor cells was associated with the discovery of large late-replicating chromatin blocks in the pericentromeric regions of leucaemia cell chromosomes. Some relationship is suggested between the pattern of pericentromeric heterochromatin DNA replication and cell differentiation.
