An endocuff is attached at the tip of colonoscope to improve mucosal visualization. An artificial intelligence (AI) assisted colonoscopy is a computer system designed to enhance detection and differentiation polyps. The aim of this study was to evaluate the endocuff assisted colonoscopy (E) and the AI assisted colonoscopy (A) in the detection of adenomas and polyps, in a randomized, back-to-back study.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, many worldwide governmental agencies implemented non-pharmaceutical interventions (NPIs) to contain its spread. Many general surgeons reported higher rates of complicated appendicitis in this period. Reports in the literature need to be more consistent. This study aimed to compare the rates of complicated appendicitis in two Swiss territories with very different COVID-19 incidences during the first lockdown period.

The impact of IBD on this population is substantial, with serious long-term consequences. However, the trend of this disease burden remains unclear. This study aims to comprehensively assess the current status and changing trends of the disease burden associated with IBD in the working population, with the goal of providing valuable insights for the prevention, treatment, and formulation of healthcare policies.

Peptic ulcer disease is a prevalent gastric and duodenal disorder associated with H. pylori infection, which is related to numerous complications and diseases. So far, machine learning has shown promise for efficiently predicting health conditions in healthcare settings. So, this study aimed to establish a prediction model by getting assistance from machine learning and risk factors for peptic ulcer disease to predict this disease efficiently and achieve preventive purposes.

Dietary decision-making plays a crucial role in the management of patients with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). However, it is complex and involves multiple challenges. Decision-making competence may assist healthcare professionals (HCPs) in evaluating patients' competence to make healthy dietary decisions and to design targeted dietary support programs. Assessment of healthy dietary decision-making competence is essential for guiding IBD patients in daily dietary management. Currently, no valid instrument is available to measure this construct. This study aimed to develop an instrument to evaluate healthy dietary decision-making competence in patients with IBD.

Gastric cancer (GC) remains a leading cause of cancer-related mortality worldwide with limited therapeutic options. Identifying molecular drivers of GC progression is crucial for developing effective strategies. Transcription Factor 19 (TCF19), a hub gene implicated in various cancers, has not been well reported in GC. Understanding the role of TCF19 in GC could provide novel insights into tumorigenesis and identify potential therapeutic targets.

The risk of hypoxemia is increased in elderly patients who are sedated during gastroscopy. This can be attributed to the physiological changes associated with aging, such as reduced oxygen reserves and an increased sensitivity to sedatives. This study aimed to evaluate whether an anesthetic nasal mask is more effective than a traditional nasal cannula at preventing hypoxemia during gastroscopy in elderly patients.
516. Combined water exchange and cap-assisted colonoscopy reduces cecal intubation time and patient discomfort in patients with unsedated colonoscopy: a randomized controlled trial.
Colonoscopic insertion remains technically challenging. While cap-assisted colonoscopy (CAC) reduces the cecal intubation time (CIT), sigmoid colon water exchange (SWE) enhances linear scope advancement. We hypothesized that combined water exchange and cap-assisted colonoscopy (SWC) would optimize the CIT and improve patient tolerance during unsedated colonoscopy.

The coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic profoundly altered healthcare systems and patient behavior worldwide, resulting in a significant decrease in hospital visits and delays in diagnosis and treatment. Thus, we aimed to investigate behavioral changes in patients undergoing colorectal cancer surgery during the pandemic, identify vulnerable populations, and determine the impact of such changes on cancer progression.

Alpha-1 antitrypsin deficiency-associated liver disease (AATD-LD) remains underrecognized despite its significant contribution to morbidity and mortality in adults with the PiZZ genotype. Lack of standardized definitions, diagnostic criteria, and staging impedes timely diagnosis and therapeutic development. To address these gaps, a multi-disciplinary expert panel convened under the auspices of the American Gastroenterological Association in collaboration with the American Association for the Study of Liver Diseases, European Association for the Study of the Liver, and Alpha-1 Foundation to develop consensus recommendations for nomenclature, diagnosis, staging, and clinical trial endpoints in AATD-LD.
