Perturbations in the early-life gut microbiome are associated with increased risk for complex immune disorders like inflammatory bowel diseases. We previously showed that maternal antibiotic-induced gut dysbiosis vertically transmitted to offspring increases experimental colitis risk in interleukin (IL) 10 gene deficient (IL10-/-) mice, a finding that may result from the loss/lack of essential microbes needed for appropriate immunologic education early in life. Here, we aimed to identify key microbes required for proper development of the early-life gut microbiome that decrease colitis risk in genetically susceptible animals.

In this study, we compared the operative outcomes, functional outcomes and learning curves of the Micro Hand S robot-assisted TME (RTME) with laparoscopic TME (LTME).

Fluoropyrimidine c (5-fluorouracil [5FU]) increasingly represents the chemotherapeutic backbone for neoadjuvant, adjuvant, and palliative treatment of pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC). Even in combination with other agents, 5FU efficacy remains transient and limited. One explanation for the inadequate response is insufficient and nonspecific delivery of 5FU to the tumor.
5986. Biopsy in emergency gastroscopy does not increase the risk of rebleeding in patients with Forrest I acute nonvariceal upper gastrointestinal bleeding combined with suspected malignant gastric ulcer: a multicenter retrospective cohort study.
Few studies have reported whether a biopsy in emergency gastroscopy (EG) increased the risk of rebleeding in patients with Forrest I acute nonvariceal upper gastrointestinal bleeding (ANVUGIB) combined with suspected malignant gastric ulcer (SMGU). This study aims to conduct a multicenter retrospective cohort study using propensity score matching to verify whether a biopsy in EG increases the risk of rebleeding in patients diagnosed with Forrest I ANVUGIB combined with SMGU.

The right posterior segment (RPS) graft was introduced to overcome graft size discrepancy in living donor liver transplantation (LDLT). However, it was very rarely used in pediatric patients. Here we presented 4 pediatric LDLT cases receiving RPS graft between January 2015 and April 2020 in our center. A total of 1868 LDLT procedures were performed in this period.

Tissue metaplasia is uncommon in adults because established cis-element programs resist rewiring. In Barrett's esophagus, the distal esophageal mucosa acquires a predominantly intestinal character, with notable gastric features, and is predisposed to developing invasive cancers. We sought to understand the chromatin underpinnings of Barrett's metaplasia and why it commonly displays simultaneous gastric and intestinal properties.

5994. New Insights Into Pancreatic Cancer: Notes from a Virtual Meeting.
Pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma remains a major challenge in cancer medicine. Given the increase in incidence and mortality, interdisciplinary research is necessary to translate basic knowledge into therapeutic strategies improving the outcome of patients. On the 4th and 5th of February 2021, three German pancreatic cancer research centers, the Clinical Research Unit 5002 from Göttingen, the Collaborative Research Center 1321 from Munich, and Clinical Research Unit 325 from Marburg organized the 1st Virtual Göttingen-Munich-Marburg Pancreatic Cancer Meeting in order to foster scientific exchange. This report summarizes current research and proceedings presented during that meeting.

Undifferentiated carcinoma with osteoclast-like giant cells (UCOGCs) is a rare and aggressive non endocrine pancreatic carcinoma characterized by the presence of osteoclastic giant cells mixed with mononuclear cell. Very few cases have been reported in the literature and the histogenesis is controversial as, at the time of diagnosis, the tumor is often of advanced size and stage and it is difficult to pathologically observe its relationship with the pancreatic duct.
