Subjective well-being (SWB) encompasses both subjective happiness and objective factors. Anxiety and depression are increasingly recognized as contributing causes of functional dyspepsia (FD), yet the role of SWB in FD patients has been largely overlooked. This study aims to investigate the influence of SWB on anxiety, depression, symptom severity, and quality of life (QoL) in individuals with FD.

Metabolism plays an important role in the occurrence and development of gastric cancer, including in neoadjuvant immunochemotherapy. However, whether nutrition-related indicators can predict the efficacy of neoadjuvant immunochemotherapy and the prognosis of gastric cancer patients has not been addressed. This study systematically screens various nutritional indicators to explore their efficacy in predicting responses to neoadjuvant immunochemotherapy and patients' prognosis in locally advanced gastric cancer (LAGC).

Colorectal cancer (CRC) prevention relies on early diagnosis and endoscopic resection of adenomatous polyps. This in turn depends on the quality of the performed colonoscopy. "Polyp detection rate, PDR" and "adenoma detection rate, ADR" are considered indices for quality of colonoscopy. This study aims to evaluate PDR and ADR, alongside the demographic, clinical, and pathological characteristics of colorectal polyps in an Iranian population. We also aimed to find the prevalence of colon polyps among different age groups.

Non-invasive methods for scoring fibrosis have been developed to overcome the limitations of liver biopsy. These techniques have not been fully validated for assessing liver fibrosis in chronic hepatitis B (CHB). This study evaluated the utility of combining new, simple, non-invasive, and inexpensive tests to predict advanced liver fibrosis in CHB patients, assisting primary care physicians, especially in resource-limited settings.

The rising incidence of Crohn's disease (CD) in Asia underscores the need to explore its underlying mechanisms. The interaction between gut microbiota and the host is strongly linked to CD onset and progression, yet the precise mechanisms remain unclear. Previous studies have demonstrated that Ruminococcus gnavus (R. gnavus) is closely associated with the development and progression of CD. Therefore, this study focuses on the inflammatory role of R. gnavus in CD pathogenesis.

The ideal non-invasive marker to identify patient at risk for liver fibrosis in the general population is unknown. Current guidelines (EASL) recommend using the FIB-4 score as a screening tool but the low specificity may result in a large number of potentially false-positive results. Recently, the liver risk score (LRS) has been suggested to more accurately identify patients at-risk. The aim of our study was to identify populations at-risk using the two scores.

A defunctioning ileostomy is frequently created to avert the implications of a colo-rectal anastomotic dehiscence in rectal cancer surgery. The timing of closure of the ileostomy remains debatable as it is believed that early closure (EC) may be beneficial to most patients than the standard practice of late closure (LC). This meta-analysis was performed to compare surgical outcomes in patients who underwent EC versus LC.
